What to know-

  • LOCATION
    • Lessons are held in my home studio located near Klein Cain High School.
    • The environment is quiet, smoke-free, and pet-free with an in-room air purifier.
  • LESSON LENGTH
    • Ages under 11 should have weekly 30-minute lessons
    • Ages 11-16 have an option of weekly 30 or 45-minute lessons
    • Ages 16+ should strongly consider weekly 45 or 60-minute lessons or two 30-minute lessons per week.
  • STYLES TAUGHT & COACHED in CLASSICAL, BROADWAY, JAZZ and sometimes Pop
    • Pop music isn't my specialty, nor is it appropriate for teaching singing techniques. If that's all you want to learn and perfect, then I'm not the teacher for you.
    • My students learn how to use the entire body to sing. We dive into
      • Breath support = helps you sing fuller, longer and stronger
      • Vocal Tone = teaches you how to manipulate your tongue & soft palate to produce tones appropriate for different song styles
      • Projection = everyone wants to sing louder, but we'll do it in a healthy way learning about amplification in different registers
      • Note Reading = If you struggle to read the notes, I can help tutor you on this very important part of being a musician!
  • ALL-STATE PREPARATION
    • I was a 2-year Texas All-State Soprano back when there was only ONE choir! Now students have the opportunity to make one of three choirs. I understand the process and the necessities to be selected.
    • I am a strong sight-reading coach and use SightReadingFactory.com as a tool for my students to use at home.
  • AUDITION PREPARATION
    • I offer a short series of lessons just for audition prep. This approach is perfect for the busy singer who already has established techniques but needs a few lessons every once in a while to prepare for an audition, whether for a stage character or a chorus.
  • RECITALS
    • I'll offer at least one opportunity to perform for an audience each year. It's optional but highly encouraged.
