Do you want to sing better? If you attend Ulrich or Doerre Middle Schools, I might be able to teach you during the school day! Talk to your choir teacher or register here and I'll get back to you on available times. Click HERE to watch a video from Jill.
What we work on:
1. HOW YOUR VOICE WORKS & TECHNIQUES TO IMPROVE
Breath support = helps you sing fuller, longer and stronger
Vocal Tone = teaches you how to manipulate your tongue & soft palate to produce tones appropriate for different song styles
Projection = everyone wants to sing louder, but we'll do it in a healthy way learning about amplification in different registers
Note Reading = If you struggle to read the notes, I can help tutor you on this very important part of being a musician!
2. PREPARE TO SOLO
Solo & Ensemble for vocalists happens each school year and every private student is encouraged to participate. You must sing from a prescribed music list (PML) at the contest designed to perform classical music and folk songs. I can help you pick the song that will show your best voice to sing for a judge to receive comments and ratings. Pins and patches can be earned at these contests but what I like best is that the songs are designed to help students develop their voices with proper, healthy techniques.
Grade 3 is typically for beginners in middle school.
Grade 2 & Grade 1 are for more advanced singers in high school and are often in a foreign language.
OR
Maybe you want to try out for solo opportunities for choir concerts.
OR
Students will participate in a Spring Recital wherein parents and friends are invited to hear all of the voice students present 1-2 songs that they worked on throughout the year. It's a great opportunity to overcome performance anxiety.
OR
Do you participate in outside musical activities, like musical theater? We can prepare audition cuts that you can pull out of your sleeves when needed.
