These policies are in effect as of Sept 2024 and are for my home studio. For in-school voice lessons, please see THIS PAGE.
Piano Lessons are typically 30 minutes once a week.
Voice Lessons are typically 30 minutes for ages 6-13, 45 minutes ages 13-18 and 60 minutes for adults.

Attendance: A studio calendar for '24 -'25 is HERE
Arrival:
New students, you'll receive my address in an email once you've signed up. You can map Klein Cain High School for figuring out the driving distance as I live across the street.
Students should not arrive at the door more than 1 minute before their lesson time begins unless a prior arrangement is made. I could be finishing another lesson or task and every minute counts! Students should ring the bell and wait until I open the door. (Knocking can’t always be heard, so tell kids to ring!)
For the most part, parents are discouraged from watching lessons unless the student is too young to read the assignment material or has other issues that would need a parent’s presence. This allows me to have the student’s full attention and also allows my household to continue functioning without additional guests. I do highly encourage parents to check the assignment notebook after each lesson for important information.
If you drop off your child and leave, please return on time. I cannot watch your children while teaching the next lesson nor should I be late to an appointment if I'm waiting to leave my house. Thanks.
Piano students bring an assignment notebook (spiral), music books, & pencil. You’ll eventually need a binder.
Voice students bring a water bottle, a small binder with blank paper, music books, & pencil.
Behavior: There are a few rules to follow in the studio. 1) Piano students must wash their hands at arrival. 2) Very careful attention is given to the care of the very expensive piano. No food, drinks, or any items are to be placed on the piano other than music books placed on felt. 3) Stay on task. 4) Come prepared.
Home Practice:
Students should come to lessons with all materials and should be prepared to perform what was assigned to practice. Parents of minors should review the written assignment at home with their child so nothing is “forgotten” on the practice list. At least 20 minutes of practicing times five days (=100 minutes) is what I expect, and more time with advancing years and skills and age. The teacher reserves the right to drop students who are not practicing at home.
